Mike Turner

Mike is a valued member of Turner Associates, he is very approachable and leads the Non-Executive Team.

A qualified Quantity Surveyor by profession who has for over 40 years been the Regional Lead for Lovell Construction within Merseyside and North Wales.

Mike is a well-known construction professional having generated an enviable network and currently holds a variety of Non-Executive and Board positions most notably;

He is highly experienced in all construction matters and organisational issues.

Phil Bostock

Commercial Manager

Phil along with Dave McMillian leads our Commercial Management Team.

With over 18 years’ experience in the Construction industry, Phil is dual qualified and equally adept in the capacity of both Building Surveying and Quantity Surveying. He has also undertaken many schemes in a Project Management role. Phil has gained a wealth of
experience both in private practice but more latterly with Traditional Main Contractors.

The diverse range of roles held by Phil over the years illustrate an ability to adapt, integrate and above all, excel at the services provided to our Clients.

With a track record of successfully ‘seconding’ into an array of complex situations, providing a dedicated ‘hour to hour, day to day’ hands on service and ‘can do’ approach,

Phil is able and more than willing, to work at a variety of levels and diverse environments from Strategic Management and Consultancy to on Site Measuring for Valuations – all on the basis of best meeting the needs of his Clients as efficiently as possible.

In addition to specific roles held in Project Management and Contract Administration, Phil is a Commercial Manager who is fully conversant in estimating, surveying and team
management, Phil carries out external valuations, assessment and certification of
applications for payment, CVRs, procurement of specialist packages including tender
analyses and order placement, contractual correspondence and Notices, cost and cashflow forecasting, chairing of meetings and general progress reviews.

As a long time champion of Sub-Contractor rights, Phil has developed long-standing
relationships with several Specialists who have come to rely upon and implicitly trust his
advice and input.  This has resulted in significant improvements in performances on a
‘Project by Project’ basis and these businesses overall.

With an ethos to maintain a simple, practical approach wherever possible, Phil follows a
principle best described in his own words as “Always work as a team and listen to others,
have a collaborative and innovative approach, no one person has all the answers but as
team we often find the best answer”.

Sean Barnes

Quantity Surveying Lead

Sean is the Quantity Surveying Lead at Turner Associates.

Having initially pursued a career in Engineering, before eventually seeing the light and converting to Quantity Surveying, Sean has now worked alongside MD Paul for over 8 years and is integral to Turner Associates.

Sean and his team will fulfil the full commercial function on behalf of his Clients. Operating as the in-house Quantity Surveyors or acting remotely, either way they are first class in every way. There is a strong demand for Sean and his team, as they provide not only an excellent service, but will generally be cost neutral because the additional revenue and margin that they secure through their performance will more than cover their cost and enhance any Client’s bottom line.

Mike Hounslow

Head of Planning

Mike is responsible for developing and designing construction programmes in conjunction with project managers and design and build teams. He works from the tender and pre-construction phase right through to project completion.

As part of his role, Mike is also responsible for compiling and managing procurement, both supplier and sub-contractor schedules. He puts in place mechanisms to enable monitoring and early warning systems for deviances from the programme. By closely managing and adapting the programme week-by-week, he ensures that deadlines are met or bettered.

Mike has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, working on some of the UK’s most prestigious projects across a variety of sectors, with projects valued up to £60million.

Mike is an integral part of Turner Associates leading the Planning Department and providing independent services to a wide variety of companies in the construction sector. He has extensive experience in tendering processes, package procurement, programming, progress reporting and providing advice on live contracts often preventing programme overrun.

Highly organised and efficient she ensures that the Practice runs like a finely tuned machine.
